Is it okay for one parent not to be invited to their child's birthday party?
My daughter turned 11 and I was to take her out for a family dinner and invited her Dad and his wife. Dad said dinner was boring and we should do bowling party instead and he would pay half + buy the cake. Daughter got in trouble at school and was punished by Mom. She had to write 150 times, write a 100 word essay on the importance of respecting her elders, lost TV, computer time and allowance for the week. However in the end Mom decided not to take away the bowling party. Daughter completed the punishment and was remorseful. Despite that though Dad decided he was not giving her a party or buying a cake and if Mom wanted to go ahead and do the party that was on her. I (Mom) feel Dad should not be invited but others think he should. Just looking for some honest feedback here, no judgment and no criticisms.
invite him. if he doesn't come then he's a jerk. and if he refuses to pay, then just have less. he can deal with his child's disappointment. you will have done your best.
