A stained glass window is to be placed in a house. The window consists of a rectangle, 6 feet length by 3 feet width with a semicircle at the top. Approximately how many feet of stripping, to the nearest tenth of a foot, will be needed to frame the window?
You will need 6 + 6 + 3 ft to frame the sides and bottom.
6 + 6 + 3 = 15 ft.
For the semicircle top use equation
Circumference = 1/2 ( pi x diameter).....(1/2 because it is one half of a full circle
= 1/2(3) pi
= 4.71238.....or to tenths 4.7 ft
15 + 4.7 = 19.7 feet of stripping
