Adobe Photoshop 7 will not use any other tool but the hand tool?
I tried switching to the brush tool, and then the pen tool, and tried every other tool. It will show that I am on that selected tool, but the hand shows up and it's all I can use.
I didn't install anything new, and I tried closing out and opening the program again. I did that twice.
Is there anything I can do?
PS It's NOT elements. It is Adobe Photoshop 7.
We can't afford to buy or update...
The brush tools and move tool tend to get a little whacky every once and awhile. Click on one of the offending tools. Up in the Options Bar above the workspace, over on the far left (now, I'm trying to remember what PS7 has: an brush icon or an arrow;-)...whatever...click on the icon that's the farthest to the left in the Options bar and click Reset This Tool. Click on the Clone Tool (another one that tends to go "off") and if it's not working, do the same for it. There's a Reset icon on the far left side of every tool's Option Bar.
Next, if you're still having problems, click on any of the sick tools and, instead of clicking on Reset This Tool, show them you mean business and click on Reset All Tools;-)
If resetting the tools doesn't work, let's reset the program. (Resetting just sets the program back to factory defaults and doesn't remove any plugins, etc. you've installed - PHEW!) Close PS7 and wait a few minutes. Now, hold down Shift+CTRL+ALT while you click the program icon to start it up. When the program begins loading (you see the parts being loaded scrolling on the screen: loading plugins, scanning for presets, etc.) release the keys you're holding. A popup will ask about rebuilding a file....click Yes. This will take a few minutes, giving you enough time to worry about if you've done it correctly and/or if it's going to work.
If resetting the program doesn't work....I'd do it again just because I'd feel like I didn't know what I was doing the first time I did it and because anything's better than having to uninstall/reinstall the program.
If the tools are still acting up, it's time to uninstall/reinstall....but usually resetting the tools does the job;-D
