I am taking an Intro to Manufacturing class at Western Michigan University,
Given the parts of the lathe: Bed, Headstock, Tailstock, Carraige, and Quick Change Gear Box. I am being asked to match them with the following functions:
Revolves lead screw
Dead Spindle
Dead Center
Cross Slide
Compound rest
Drawbar collet chuck
Feed lever
Threading lever
Tool Post
Feed/ Threading post
Live spindle
V's and flats (ways)
Cross slide
help will be greatly appreciated
Bed = V's and flats (ways),
Headstock = Draw bar collet chuck, Dead Center, Dead Spindle
The headstock on some lathes has V's and flats (ways) that mate with the V's and flats (ways) on the bed.
Tail stock = Dead Center, live center ( live center is not on your list )
The Tail stock has V's and flats (ways) that mate with the V's and flats (ways) on the Bed
Carriage = Tool post, Cross Slide, Threading lever, Compound rest, Threading lever
The Carriage has V's and flats (ways) that mate with the V's and flats (ways) on the Bed
Quick Change Gear Box = Revolves lead screw, Feed lever
I have been in machining for 20+ years and do not know what a Feed/ Threading post is, sorry.
