About to change my brakes, have a couple questions?
OK.. so I got a 2003 Lincoln LS8 last week. Test drove it and everything, it seemed fine. So within a within a week of owning I noticed a pretty bad rubbing sound coming from the drivers side. OK, the brakes need to change, as I pull home I notice the brake rotor is pretty scratched up. OK, no big deal.. I buy two new rotors, and two new brake pads for the fronts and I was walking out the shop, I notice the passenger brake rotor is fine. It doesn't have any scratches or anything (and from the outside seems perfectly fine).
Now, I think this pretty much means my DH caliper is sticking. Does this mean that it is bad, or is there a way to test to see if it is bad? I'm not sure but what about the pins & slides should I look for.
A good way to tell if caliper is sticking is if one pad is worn more than the other on each wheel. Both pads should have same wear on each wheel.
