1991 Mazda MPV Distributor...............?
Sorry to say but our main mode of transportation is a 1991 Mazda MPV, it has 214,000 miles on it, and it has recently developed a distributor problem. There is a little slop in the distributor shaft and the rotor is hitting the cap, causing a power failure and making a lot of noise, go figure right? Well anyway a new distributor, with tax, costs $270 dollars, which we really can't afford right now. My question is this - Is there any way that I can replace the bushing, or bearing on the distributor shaft? I have a small arbor press and have done most of my auto repairs at home.
I wouldn't bother with it if I could afford another car, and this one looks good and runs great except for this new problem.
This car has the fule injected 300, 6 cylinder engine.

OK my mistake, not a 300 inch, a 3 liter, 6 cylinder
Before you try this, you will need to make sure that you can get your hands on a bushing for the distributor assembly first.
If you can then you can try it but you will need alot of special tools for doing this, also you will need to make sure that you can do this by yourself because if not, you wont be driving it.
Use this number ( JE1518200R0B ) and see if you can cross reference it to some other type of rebuilt distributor........
