Extension of speaker wires, How to?!!?
It is for my midi system i have in my bedroom. I also have an unused seperates 6 piece system in which the speaker wires are not in use at all. Could i connect these one's onto the end of my midi one's.? The separates speakers wires are a bit more thicker with gold wire at each end. One red and the other black. Although they are different width sizes, not much mind, how can i connect them both together safely? The seperate's wires are sooooo much longer i prefer to have those on my midi system but the wires are stuck onto the back of the speakers on the midi system so i can only connect from the ends of the midi system wires. Pease help anyone! Possibly in the simplest format for me. Cheers Everyone!
Yes, you can extend speaker wires. You can buy plugs (male and female) to do the connection (the official way). Or you can just use an electrical nut to join them and use electrical tape to go over the nut. The last way is the easiest and cheapest.
This is what I am talking about

-----edit---
speaker wires DO carry electrical current. Which is why you do not need to plug in MOST speakers with a possible exception of a sub woofer. It is possible but rare to get a shock from them.
