We are re-doing the floors in our house..need your thoughts abt our choices...help plz?!?
We live in a 2 level house, and we have wood flooring in the lower level (living room/kitchen/dining etc), and then a straight steps(13 steps) leads to our bedrooms which currently has carpet, it is abt 8yrs old and with a big furry dog it is turning brown. We are thinking of doing wood flooring for all the rooms upstairs, now my question is
1. Will you prefer wood/carpet?
2. The installation company said they cant do our staircase in wood, unless we remove the rail spindles..so we are thinking of carpet only for the 13 steps...what do u think of it?
3. Should I go with a patterned carpet or just the regular looking carpet for the floors (it is has to be fully carpeted..I know bummer, I wanted to do wood and do a runner for the steps, but thats not possible)
We are amost puttin in close to 9grand for the job...please give ur honest opinion please?!

Wood in the top and bottom floors ( with rugs in the appropriate areas for warmth and decoration) with a carpet on the stairs Carpet on the stairs is decorative since you have a multitude of choices and is safer than wood if a fall or slip should occur.I love the look of wood and a runner on stairs but removing ans replacing all the spindles can be a major headache and expense.
